Six of Pentacles, Death (again, not the physical kind). Today, it's about balancing what you have vs what you don't have and what you need vs. what you want. Just because you want that new purse, car, shoes, DVD, whatever, doesn't mean you need it. Unless, you do. Did the car break for the last time? Is it time to let it die a dignified death? If so, then perhaps it's time to break out Craig's List and see what's out there. Otherwise, it's time to pull in, suck it up, and deal with the issues at hand. Because, frankly, things are coming to a head and you don't want to arrive late to this particular party. You need to make yourself aware of all the ins and outs of whatever's going on or you will be left out in the cold. You see, some major thing is about to go kaput. If you aren't prepared for it, you will be playing catch-up and you will be stuck in uncertain times. It is far better to be sure today, than it is to wring your hands and wonder. So, get out there, ask your questions, get your answers, and kick some butt.
An additional thought: Sometimes, we have to go to deeper, darker places in order to get to that light, the spark, of an idea. We have to descend into our own soup, as it were. It's ok to go there, as long you leave yourself breadcrumbs to find your way back. There is information for you in your sad/dark/unhappy places. That doesn't mean you need to take up permanent residence, but if you need to find out what is causing the darkness, then go seek it, find it, and handle it.

Today's Tarot: 3/2/12
3/2/12. Page of Swords, Ten of Pentacles. This is going to sound a little preachy, but here goes. Today, it's about being what you need to be, especially when we are talking about stressful situations. The Page calls on us to *be* the person who thinks things through, to *be* the person who doesn't just react but rather stops, takes in what's going on, assesses how she or he feels, thinks up a plan of action and reconciles all the various feelings, reactions, etc., before moving on. And to make things trickier, it's about the practical stuff in your life - the stuff that can seriously messy if you just react rather than being circumspect. Remember, stop, think, and then do. I am reminded of the beginning of Defying Gravity from Wicked when Glynda and Elphaba talk: "Elphaba, why couldn't you have stayed calm for once, instead of flying off the handle?" Of course, you don't want to pander to those who have your fate in their hands, but you also don't want to piss 'em off, unnecessarily.

Today's Tarot: Purposeful Balance
2/21/12: High Priestess, King of Pentacles, Six of Pentacles. It's gorgeous here today. And what I really want to do is go outside and play, but I have to do is prep for work. So, I have to decide how I will manage to get both in. And that's what these cards are all about: balance. The choice of how hard, how much, and how well we work always depends on us. We decide. It's that simple. So, if what you really need today is time away from everything, promise yourself (and carry through, of course) that you will make up what you put off and then go play. Or, if you need to work, promise yourself play, at some point. The best course of action? Do some of both. Promise yourself diligent work for the next two hours. Really kick some ass. And then go for an extended lunch. Walk around, go into an art supply store and draw/doodle on the sample paper for the fine art pencils. If it's warm enough where you are, eat lunch outside. Or, go for an evening stroll after a long day. Be fully dedicated to each and give each as much concentrated time as you can and you will achieve balance.
