Today's Tarot: Ace of Cups (emotion, intuition, love)

Yay! It's another of my favorite cards in the deck. The Ace of Cups represents that first blush of love, or the spark of intuition that leads you in the right direction. It's always the awareness of what you are feeling right when you are feeling it. It is one of the most optimistic cards in the deck. When you feel those feelings and allow yourself the self-love they inevitably represent, that is when grand adventures in life take place. When you don't, when you ignore or disregard them, that is another  story.

We are disturbingly good at disregarding our feelings. We have them, but we either shy away from them or deny them outright. The Ace of Cups doesn't let us play that debilitating game. It states, for the record, that not only are our feelings valid, but we need to *pay attention*. When you have an emotional reaction to something, anything, that reaction is giving you information. If you don't pay attention to what you are feeling and if you don't honor it, then you are going to cause some sort of dis-ease in your body/mind/heart/spirit system. I can pretty much guarantee it.

So, today, pay attention to your feelings. They are trying to tell you something. And if you follow the path on which they lead you, you will learn, grow, stretch, and fly.

Moving on, I want to give you a quote from A Winter's Bones. "Never asked for what ought to be offered." It's not a fuzzy wuzzy love quote, but I hold that it is true to a great extent. If you feel like you are standing, hat in hand, and hoping/begging/pleading for someone to give you time, attention, love, and if you feel like you are always in that place of wistful anxiety with that person, I would ask you to consider whether or not you need to have that person in your life.

If you look at the image of the card, below, you will see that it is a chalice that is filled or being filled with water. Water, in this case, is our emotion or love. When the Ace is right side up, it is being filled and full of bountiful, beautiful emotions and the spark that ignites them into love. When it is reversed, that cup is upside down, and our emotions and love are being poured out into nothingness until we are empty. So, in addition to feeling the love inside yourself for yourself and others, inherent in the card is a caution not to waste your emotions where they are not wanted or deserved.

If you feel like that is happening, if your intuition taps you on the back of the head, or in your belly that something is off, don't ignore it. Instead, acknowledge it, feel it, and then do something about it.

Today's Tarot: Page of Rods (Being creative, daring, and spontaneous)

What are we waiting for? Let's get out there. Let's be creative. Let's joyfully live our truth. Let's manifest our vision of the world. Wait, what? We're too tired? We have to pay this month's bills? We have dishes in the sink? We have to walk the dog? We have to ... yeah.

In life, there is always a balancing act between what we want to do and what we have to do. And when we throw in what we need to do, why then we can get well and truly stuck. We might feel paralyzed by the "shoulds" in our lives. So, instead of living these fruitful, productive, creative, fulfilling lives, we get by on the promise that someday, we'll make time for the things we love to do.

Here's the problem with "someday." It's today. It's right this second. Every instant of our lives, we choose a should, a can, a want, a get to, or a must do. Each time we choose away from a can, a want, or a get to, we choose away from our true selves. Please don't get me wrong. I'm not at all intimating that we ought not take care of the day-to-day stuff of our lives. For most of us, that is the reality. We have to-do lists that would choke a dragon and we are always trying to catch up. Here's the thing, though. That list will still be there later if you decide to take a wee break and go do something that feeds your soul.

I think the problem is that we get so bogged down by the imminence of deadlines that we forget to release our anxiety about some of those deadlines every once in a while just so we can breathe, and perhaps run, and even play. And that's vital to our health, our balance, and I daresay our very lives.

The Page of Rods doesn't give a hoot about deadlines and must-dos. The Page of Rods joyfully shouts her truth out into the universe and then runs and plays on swingsets or whistles an old song she learned in fourth grade. She plays with words and life and worlds. She imagines and then she acts on these imaginings.

She is bold and fearless and creative. She dips her ladle into the silver waters of the River of All That Is (more on this later) and then drinks deeply from its creative, satiating waters. She learns from everything and then she acts on that new information fully and purposely.

So that's our mission for the day. Let's dip the ladles of our thoughts and actions into that creative, glorious river. Let's learn from that which connects each and every one of us. And then, let's extend ourselves and our truth in ever widening circles of creative joy. It won't be easy and might feel impossible, but even a tiny action taken from that place of spontaneous joy will have ripple effects on every other part of our lives.

Do one thing from that place today, and life will change. Dot an "i" with a smiley face like you did when you were a kid. Blow bubbles through your straw. Laugh with a stranger over something you both see. Give a random compliment. Buy a flower and hand it someone on the street. Or buy yourself one and enjoy it all day. Walk outside, turn your face to the sun, close your eyes, and breathe (even for just a minute). Do something that feeds your innermost being and then move forward with that part leading the way.

Oh and if you need to have a conversation with someone and you've been putting it off, today will be a fantastic day to do it.

Today's Tarot: Three of Swords (heartache, betrayal, choices)

"Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool. Lovin' both of you is breaking all the rules..."

The Three of Swords always reminds me of the lyrics to this song from the 70s. It feels like you are standing at a crossroads and there are no good choices. In the song, it's about loving two people and needing to decide between them and knowing that whatever you do, someone is going to end up broken hearted. But, this set of choices doesn't have to be about relationships. It can be about whatever choices you face. And when in those situations, often its the chooser who ends up losing because the pain is often overwhelming regardless of which path she or he chooses.

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try to avoid the pain of heartache or worse, heartbreak, we end up feeling torn in half by whatever occurs in our lives. It sucks but there it is. Heartache is a part of life, especially if we choose to live in the here and now and make choices in the here and now. And worse, sometimes, other people's decisions break our hearts. For example, we don't get the promotion we've worked our butts off for. We cross our fingers, say our prayers and submit a poem to a literary magazine and get rejected. We gather our courage, and audition for a play and don't get cast. We tell someone we love them and get an "Um, I really like you as a friend," in response. Whatever it is, however we have to face rejection because someone else got chosen instead of us, we still need to play the game. It's part of living. However...

There comes a day when the game is too painful and it's time to hang it up. Now, I'm not saying hang it up forever, but I am saying, for the moment, do hang it up. Step away from the ledge. Take time to lick your wounds. Don't try so hard. Protect yourself so you can heal and then come back stronger tomorrow. Don't tilt at so many windmills for the moment, if you find you don't have the energy or the heart for it.

Last night, I was at a pub celebrating a friend's Birthday. In the restroom, I overheard a young woman giving advice to a friend. She said, "Son, if the ho' don't want to be saved, don't try to save the ho'...." I took it to mean that while it's okay to tilt at some/most windmills, sometimes, no matter what you do, things will unravel and you will get hurt. So, don't turn yourself inside out and cause yourself a great deal of pain, trying to help someone who just doesn't want or need your help.

Today, that is what I encourage you to do. If the game is too much, if it's too painful. Walk away, heal, and come back tomorrow to try again.

In the words of the famous movie star, the WOPR or Joshua, "Interesting game. The only winning move is not to play."

Today's Tarot: The Hermit (solitude, alone time, knowing your own worth)

There is a big difference between being alone and being lonely. The Hermit has chosen a life of solitude, but she or he is not lonely. There is a purity of purpose to his/her solitude. Whether it's a life of examination, meditation, communion with spirit, dedication to a craft, or the simple desire to be alone with our thoughts, sometimes, we just need that alone time.

Unfortunately, sometimes we need that alone time long before we realize we need it. We need time to meditate or ruminate or just be with our own thoughts, but for whatever reason, we don't take it. Instead of spending time alone to recharge, say, we turn our back on solitary time. Rather, we end up joining social events, causes, clubs, etc. We try to fill the well with external influences when what we might really need is space and time to take things in from a universal source. We can call it God or gods or universe or nature or books. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that we take the time to do it.

Sometimes, we must demand the right to solitude from others. Sometimes, we have to demand it from ourselves. Try as we might, we can't run away from our own thoughts no matter what we do to get away from them. We can turn to partying, alcohol, sometimes drugs, extreme sports, extreme activities in general but our thoughts are right there the instant we're no longer vigilant at keeping them at bay. In the end, it's easier to take some time to be hermits and sit with our thoughts and feelings. If we make friends with them, we can begin to understand them. Whatever those thoughts and feelings are, they loom worse - darker, inkier, and possibly more terrifying - before we name them and shine the light on them.

When we spend time in repose, we get the opportunity to do that. We get to be with our thoughts, dreams, hopes, fears, and plans. Mostly, though, we allow ourselves to be truly honest with ourselves and we give ourselves the opportunity to confront and make friends with ourselves and that is the most vital relationship we will ever have.

Today, if you can, spend some time in repose. Give yourself time to be alone with your thoughts without to-do lists, without guilt, and without judgment. Even five minutes spent in self-examination can change our lives. Certainly, it will change our day.

Today's Tarot: the Devil (greed, imprisonment, self-deception)

I find this card a hard one to write about. There are so many connotations that people find it hard to objective about this card. We tend to ascribe so many meanings, facets, and patinas to it that we never get to bottom of things.

In my opinion, it is easy to put all the negative qualities we might feel internally onto a mythical figure, call him/it the ultimate in evil and be done with it. In some ways, that lets us off the hook. Here's the thing, though. It doesn't. That ol' chestnut, "the Devil made me do it," is the worst kind of cop out. Instead of standing up and saying, "yes, I have less than stellar moments. Yes, I've done things I'm not proud of but I am trying to make amends, trying to improve," we say, it's the fault of the Devil, with a big capital D. In the end, though, it isn't true, is it? In the end, we are responsible for what we do. We must take our less than stellar moments, accept that we were capable of them, and then do better.

So, yes, this card does mean greed. It means every single petty and not-so-petty time we have been greedy, small-minded, closed-minded, or mean. It's the ugly underbelly of our own highest thoughts and best attempts.

It also means imprisonment. As long as we don't accept our own faults and flaws, as long as we try to palm our negative qualities on some mythical man/beast/fallen angel, we stay imprisoned in our fear of being caught, in our terror of being found out to be less than perfect. In effect, we are sometimes terrified of being found out to be human. Humans run the gamut of actions and emotions. We can exhibit the kindness of the angels, or the malice of the devils. And we need to accept that both reside inside us. The ones we show to the world are entirely up to us. And, every single instant of every single day brings us to the fork in the road about what we will show to the world and what we will exhibit. Will it be kindness or malice? Will it be generosity or greed?

The key here is to remove the veils from our own eyes and see ourselves clearly. If we do that, then we arrive at that place of balance where neither devils nor angels hold sway. The old image of a person trying to make a decision with an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other comes to mind here. They are trying to talk the person into either doing the right or wrong thing, make the right or wrong choice. If the person accepts that the responsibility is ultimate his/hers, then the devil and angel no longer have a voice. Then, that voice is entirely internal and either the credit or the blame becomes internal as well.

So, today, when you are trying to reach decisions, trying to decide how to move forward, act in the moment, or say or do anything, remember the Devil is internal and he/she/it will always pull you toward greed at the expense of others and the kind of selfishness that is ultimately just a little malicious. Taking care of ourselves and being selfish in our self care is one thing. But doing so with complete disregard for others is another thing entirely.

I am reminded of the quote. “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”—Malcolm S. Forbes.

If the Devil is about greed, then this previous quote is its Achilles Heel.

Advice: To coin flip or not to coin flip

Do you, like me, get asked for advice a lot? And do you, like me, sometimes cringe when you give your advice and immediately you watch the asker(s) go off and do the exact opposite of what you advised them to do. For years, I've cringed when I have witnessed this behavior. And recently, I've learned to let my reaction ago. Why, you ask? Well, it's because I want to be helpful when giving advice. And I have felt the opposite of helpful when I've given it and then watched the person spin a 180 and go off in a totally different direction.

However, I've realized that just the giving of the advice can be extremely helpful regardless of whether or not the person takes it. And I've had to get my own ego out of the way so I wasn't so invested in the person taking my advice (tough one for me since I've worked as a life coach for many years and got accustomed to people taking my advice both to heart and to the letter).

Sometimes and even often, people ask for your advice/comments on something not because they will take that advice or those comments to heart, but more because they want to clarify for themselves exactly what they do or don't want.

To me, it's kind of like flipping a coin when you are trying to decide "yes" or "no" about something. Next time you want to do/buy/see/go to something and you need to decide whether or not to do it, take a coin, decide, heads=yes and tails=no and then flip. What do you feel immediately upon looking at the coin. Is it satisfaction and excitement? If so, then by all means, do what the coin flip suggested. Is it instead a sharp pang (no matter how small) of disappointment? Well, then go do the opposite of what the coin flip suggested.

We all already know what we want to do. Sometimes, we know it secretly, in our heart of hearts and we are too afraid to reach for it, to decide it, or to do it. So, we sort of have to remove ourselves from the equation and we instead leave it up to fate to decide for us. But you know what? The coin flip doesn't decide a thing. All it does is clarify for us exactly what we want if we stop and gauge our own reaction to the result.

Once we know and acknowledge that instantaneous reaction, we can move forward with the knowledge that we are doing what we really want to do with clarity of vision, purpose, and heart.

Prepare, prepare, prepare. This week's tarot draw.

This week, we need to make our own luck (except that sometimes we make bad luck as well as good luck, so know exactly what you want before you go for it).

The cards are: Wheel of Fortune, The Magician, Knight of Swords (reversed).

Things aren't really in our control right now. We might be waiting with bated breath for a sign, something to happen that will steer us in one direction over another. But, even though we're waiting, we can still make all the appropriate preparations. So, if you don't know whether or not the hurricane is going to head to your town/state/area, that doesn't mean that you ought not buy a few gallons of extra water, and (rechargeable) batteries for your flashlights. So, if it does show up on your doorstep to blow the roof off your house, you are prepared. And if it doesn't, you have a little extra water and a few more batteries.

The Wheel of Fortune was right side up so chances are luck is with you this week. But, and this is a big "but," luck will only take you so far. With that in mind, the Magician shows up to kick our butts into action. Make sure the intelligent you, the emotional you, the practical you, and the passionate you are all of a mind, and then go do what you need to do or say what you need to say. Having said that, don't just fly off the handle (not a good week for it). Really make sure that know what you want and the best, most efficacious way to go about getting it. If you try for something that is out of reach, no problem, as long as you are prepared. You will get something better in the long run (remember the Wheel of Fortune is right side up, here). But, if you go off half-cocked, then, trouble will brew. Be prepared. Be prepared. Be prepared. Know what you want and need. Lay the groundwork. Build the foundation. Increase your contacts. Reach out to those who might help (and if they choose not to, don't hold it against them. They aren't required to help; you just need to let them know that if they want to, you would appreciate it). Then, do what you need to do.

The Knight of Swords is reversed. That still means, prepare, prepare, prepare. Think through the possibilities and act accordingly. Rash action will get you rash results (to the extreme). Well-thought-out action that fits with your highest goals for yourself? Well, that will get you that much farther on the path towards them.

Good luck!

Until next time, Izolda. http://izolda.info

Not going to take it anymore? Fine, then own that.

There's nothing like getting work cards on a Monday. Today's cards are: The Magician, the Nine of Cups, and the Eight of Swords. The Magician is a "go get 'em" card. He tells us to focus, find purpose, and plunge into the fray for we will win, if we just jump in and act purposefully. However, he also says that we must really, truly know what we want. If we just jump in without having a real clue as to our true goals, things will get majorly messed up. So, if you know what has to happen, if you've thought it through, if your heart is set on it, if you feel peaceful and like it's the one, true course of action, then go for it. Otherwise, sit tight and wait until things settle in and feel right.

Feeling trapped by circumstances will be troubling today. (There's the eight of swords rearing her troubling head.) If you feel like a good bit of your life is spent doing things you don't want to do, then you need to see where you can lessen those activities. They might be work, they might be home - it doesn't matter. What matters is that you need to cut away those things that make you unhappy. Take how you spend your time in your own hands and only do that which you want/need to do rather than what you feel obligated to do. It will give you a feeling of greater freedom.

The Nine of Cups is the happy merchant. It represents the person who is truly happy in his or her work. If you are happy, more power to you. If you aren't, today is the day to begin to do something about it. Again, though, this isn't about jumping up on your desk and screaming "I'm not going to take it anymore!" When we want to succeed, we often have to know those around us as well, or better than, we know ourselves. If someone at work is making your life harder, try to see beyond his or her work mask. Find compassion for what they are going through and you might find yourself no longer on opposites sides of whatever is going on. Now, it might not make a hill of beans worth of difference, but then again, it might. If the only difference is that you have a better understanding of what causes that person to behave this way, then it will still make a difference in how you approach your work environment.

So, ultimately, it looks like today is about taking charge of your time and work. If you want to move forward, do it from a knowledgeable point of view. If you want to stay right where you are, know that on some (most if not all) level, you remain where you are because you have chosen to do that. Own your decisions, own your current status and you will be shocked at how much more relaxed and peaceful you will feel.

Today's Tarot 3/8/12

Ace of Cups, Four of Rods. I almost wish this combo happened tomorrow (my anniversary) but here it is today and it is good. The Ace is new beginnings, particularly creatively and emotionally (new love, new art, new something that feels good). The Four of Rods is moving to the next step or at least opening to new possibilities. Whatever thoughts you've been having, you will come up with new ways of looking at them, new exciting, creative ways. Let it all wash over you today and you will find a brand new path laid out before you, if you look less with your eyes and more with your heart. So, go, do your best Daniel-San impersonation, close your eyes and leap. Remember, this is more about seeing differently than anything else. If you are faced with adversity, step back, and find the lesson and new information in the situation. You will be very excited to note that there are grand possibilities when you do that.

Today's Tarot 3/6/12

Six of Pentacles, Death (again, not the physical kind). Today, it's about balancing what you have vs what you don't have and what you need vs. what you want. Just because you want that new purse, car, shoes, DVD, whatever, doesn't mean you need it. Unless, you do. Did the car break for the last time? Is it time to let it die a dignified death? If so, then perhaps it's time to break out Craig's List and see what's out there. Otherwise, it's time to pull in, suck it up, and deal with the issues at hand. Because, frankly, things are coming to a head and you don't want to arrive late to this particular party. You need to make yourself aware of all the ins and outs of whatever's going on or you will be left out in the cold. You see, some major thing is about to go kaput. If you aren't prepared for it, you will be playing catch-up and you will be stuck in uncertain times. It is far better to be sure today, than it is to wring your hands and wonder. So, get out there, ask your questions, get your answers, and kick some butt.

An additional thought: Sometimes, we have to go to deeper, darker places in order to get to that light, the spark, of an idea. We have to descend into our own soup, as it were. It's ok to go there, as long you leave yourself breadcrumbs to find your way back. There is information for you in your sad/dark/unhappy places. That doesn't mean you need to take up permanent residence, but if you need to find out what is causing the darkness, then go seek it, find it, and handle it.

Today's Tarot 3/5/12

The Star, Two of Rods, Three of Swords. In one sentence: You've got to risk it all to have it all. Oy, I'm a little tired just thinking about it, but this is today's outlook. Want to finally tell him/her how you feel, you risk rejection but you could have the love of your life (and if they reject you, they don't know what they're missing). Want to apply for that job you've always wanted? Do something outlandish like showing up in their office and doing a presentation in their lobby (this one could get you escorted out by security but it could also get you the interview, doggone it). Want to write that book? Great! Here's the first phrase, "In the beginning..." (not the best first phrase, but at least it's a start). go for it. Do your thing. Keep your feet on the ground and reach for your dreams. Heck, if you don't reach for your dreams, who is going to do it for you?

Today's Tarot: 3/4/12

The Empress, Ace of Rods, Ace of Swords. I would like to bottle these cards and sell them on the open market. I'd be rich. Rich, I tell you. The Empress: Fertile ground. Ace of Swords: a grand idea. Ace of Rods: The energy and passion to start it (and starting it). Wow! So, what are we waiting for? Do we want to change the world with our brilliant, ideas? Do we want to bring food to the world's destitute? Do we want to cultivate that so elusive of all states, a sense of abundance? You bet your bippie, we do. So, here it is. If you don't have a great/grand/brilliant idea that you can put into motion today to change the world, then do the next best thing. Be kind, especially to yourself. Forgive yourself your own trespasses. Cultivate that sense that wherever you go, there you are, and that it really is all good. In fact, it feels full, round, bountiful and beautiful. Sure, there are bad things happening everywhere. But remember, there is still time, today, every day, to extend ourselves to others and to change something, anything, for the better. We can help in small ways and large and giving to others even when we ourselves feel not quite full of luscious bounty will definitely generate more of that feeling of blissful state. If you don't believe me, listen to the HH the Dalai Lama. He says, "The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being." 'Nuff said.

Today's Tarot 3/3/12

3/3/12. Page of Swords, Ace of Pentacles. Hmm, the first card drawn was the same as yesterday. And, I tried, twice, to choose a different card because I though that it would be kind of ridiculous to write up the same card two days in a row. Not so. The ridiculous thing is that I chose it again, and then again. Obviously, that darn Page isn't done with us yet. So, here goes. Remember how yesterday I said that we really ought to be the person who thinks things through? Well, that goes double for today. Plan, plot, predict, and whatever other P-word you want to use that means, "think it through." Do that. It's important. For whatever reason, the Ace of Pentacles, the card that represents the basic and true you, in your day-to-day, really needs you to strategize rather than jump on in. The Ace is a tremendous card. It represents all new possibilities in your life. It manifests the physical good, the germinating seed that stretches for the sun. It is the beginning of sustenance and the lovely feeling of relaxation that can come over us when we know that we and those we love are cared for, provided for, and safe. The way to do that? Think.

Today's Tarot: 3/2/12

3/2/12. Page of Swords, Ten of Pentacles. This is going to sound a little preachy, but here goes. Today, it's about being what you need to be, especially when we are talking about stressful situations. The Page calls on us to *be* the person who thinks things through, to *be* the person who doesn't just react but rather stops, takes in what's going on, assesses how she or he feels, thinks up a plan of action and reconciles all the various feelings, reactions, etc., before moving on. And to make things trickier, it's about the practical stuff in your life - the stuff that can seriously messy if you just react rather than being circumspect. Remember, stop, think, and then do. I am reminded of the beginning of Defying Gravity from Wicked when Glynda and Elphaba talk: "Elphaba, why couldn't you have stayed calm for once, instead of flying off the handle?" Of course, you don't want to pander to those who have your fate in their hands, but you also don't want to piss 'em off, unnecessarily.

Today's Tarot: Purposeful Balance

2/21/12: High Priestess, King of Pentacles, Six of Pentacles. It's gorgeous here today. And what I really want to do is go outside and play, but I have to do is prep for work. So, I have to decide how I will manage to get both in. And that's what these cards are all about: balance. The choice of how hard, how much, and how well we work always depends on us. We decide. It's that simple. So, if what you really need today is time away from everything, promise yourself (and carry through, of course) that you will make up what you put off and then go play. Or, if you need to work, promise yourself play, at some point. The best course of action? Do some of both. Promise yourself diligent work for the next two hours. Really kick some ass. And then go for an extended lunch. Walk around, go into an art supply store and draw/doodle on the sample paper for the fine art pencils. If it's warm enough where you are, eat lunch outside. Or, go for an evening stroll after a long day. Be fully dedicated to each and give each as much concentrated time as you can and you will achieve balance.

Today's Tarot: 2/20/12

2/20/12: Nine of Rods and Three of Pentacles. The Nine of Rods encourages us to get fired up today. Got a secret dream of being a stand-up comedian? Go to an open mic night? Want to learn how to run? Try the "Couch to 5k" process. Want to learn how to cook? Get a cookbook out of the library or heck, look a recipe up online and try it today. The Three of Pentacles is about doing the work. Sure, we can whine and moan about things not going the way we want them too. We've all done plenty of it, I'm certain. It can be easy to get discouraged if things aren't going our way. But, and this is a big but, the only way to improve our situation is to actually dig in and do the work (it sucks, but there it is). With the three, though, we have the tenacity to actually take that first, small step to starting. And that can be the biggest step of all. So, the nine sparks the engine, and the three is all the machinery that makes it run. On your mark! Get set! Go!

Today's Tarot: 2/16/12

King of Swords and Seven of Pentacles. Reap the rewards of all your efforts and planning or, plan better for next time. How much does it frustrate you that despite your best efforts things get all FUBARed? You plan. You make lists. You figure it out step-by-step. And despite all that, once you get started on whatever it is you're trying to accomplish, the monkey wrenches get thrown into the works at every turn. Well, today isn't exactly like that. It's more, "take your win where you can get it." Celebrate the small victories today because sometimes that's all you're going to get. So, if the light turns green right when you get to it, yell "charge" and get going. If the printer prints your long document perfectly the first time you try, celebrate. Make today about the simple things and it will all be good.

Today's Tarot 2/15/12

The Hierophant, Death (this is never physical death by the way. It's the end of a cycle.). Things end. Everything has a time when it must come to a close and something the best thing we can do is figure out what we need to learn from it. Something in your life is changing/closing/ending. Let it. Trying to keep it going longer than it is supposed to will only make you sad/distressed in the long run. So, if you let it go, close, finish, you will move on and not only that, but you will be much the wiser for it. Sign your name on the dotted line. Let it go. Move forward. You might not immediately know why you needed to do it today, but in the long run, it will be abundantly clear. Oh and if school is somehow in the picture for you, get to it. Now's the time to learn, about yourself, about the world, about the universe.

Today's Tarot 2/12/12

The Magician, The Ace of Pentacles, the Tower. "When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange, who you are into what you're gonna be." (Bonus points if you know the source of that quote.) Today it's about being proactive for yourself. If you want to make huge sweeping changes in your life, like say if you want to break old patterns of behavior, eating, communication, whatever, then today is the day to start. The Tower stands for revolutionary change. The Ace of Pentacles stands for you, your body, your home, and the beginning or spark of change (say, germination). The Magician gives us the resolve and ability to move forward. It's never too late, and in fact, whenever you start, it's the perfect time to do it. Focus on your own body's needs (take a long bath, go for a walk, get a haircut, whatever will make you feel like you are taking good care of yourself) and you'll be great.
